Benefits

Who Will They Help?

Wearing compression stockings or socks is a simple, yet effective option for managing some conditions and providing relief. We recommend them for swollen, aching and tired legs and for people who stand or sit all day.

Long car or plane trips reduce leg movement, so wearing compression stockings or socks helps maintain blood flow back to your heart and lowers the risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT).

People with the following conditions will benefit:
  • Varicose veins and venous insufficiency
  • Travellers – particularly long distance
  • Pregnancy
  • Surgery recovery
  • Previous DVT and blood clots
  • Leg ulcers, Lymphoedema, and Oedema

How Compression Works

The Science of Compression

Compression stockings and socks are made from elasticated nylon blends. They are designed with an in-built pressure gradient, which promotes flow of venous blood and any tissue fluid out of the legs and eventually back to the heart. This stops pooling of blood and fluid at the ankles.

Our specialist team recommends high quality, properly measured and fitted stockings. This ensures the most medical benefit and comfort for your condition.

Grades, Styles, and Levels

We stock German or Swiss brands because the quality and durability are high. We recommend below-knee graduated stockings or socks for most people.

There are three compression levels: Level 1 (lowest), Level 2 (midway), and Level 3 (highest). We recommend level 1 for most people, giving a good balance between comfort and results. Thigh-high options are available for post-surgery needs.
